"SULHAMPSTEAD BANNISTER, a parish in the hundred of Theale, county Berks, half a mile N.W. of Sulhampstead Abbots, and 6½ miles S.W. of Reading, its post town. The village is situated on the river Kennet. The living is a rectory annexed to that of Sulhampstead Abbots, in the diocese of Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. There is a National school for both sexes."
