  • "STOKE BISHOP, a tything in the parish of Westbury-upon-Trym, lower division of Henbury hundred, county Gloucester, 2 miles N.W. of Bristol. It was once the seat of the Lippincotts. The village, which is considerable, may be reckoned a suburb of Bristol. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, in the patronage of trustees. The church is modern."
