"SEVINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Chart, lathe of Shepway, county Kent, 2 miles S. of Ashford, its post town and railway station. The parish, which is small, is wholly agricultural. About two-thirds of the land are in pasture, and the remainder arable. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £230, and the glebe comprises 12 acres. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury, value £250. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The register dates from 1654. The parochial charities produce about £1 per annum. There is a free school."
