"WORTH, (or Word), a parish in the hundred of Eastry, lathe of St. Augustine, county Kent, 1 mile S. of Sandwich. It is situated near the coast of the English Channel, and includes the hamlets of Felderland and Hecklinge. There are two coastguard stations. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Canterbury, value £375, in the patronage of the archbishop. The church is dedicated to SS. Peter and Paul. The impropriate tithes, amounting to £623 4s. 6½d., belong to the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury."
