"BROUGHTON, a parish in the hundred of Orlingbury, in the county of Northampton, 3 miles to the S.W. of Kettering. Wellingborough is its post town. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough, of the value of £394, in the gift of the Duke of Buccleuch. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew, and contains a monumental brass of Robert Bolton, the Puritan divine, who was once rector of this parish. The charitable endowments for the benefit of the poor are worth £13 a year. Broughton was the birthplace of Robert Bolton, and of William Bagshaw, the Nonconformist."
