"LAXTON, a parish in the hundred of Corby, county Northampton, 7 miles N.E. of Rockingham, its post town, and 7 N.W. of Oundle. It is a small agricultural village, situated near the river Welland. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Peterborough. The church is dedicated to All Saints. The parochial charities produce about £2 per annum. There is a small free school, supported by Lord Carbery, who resides at Laxton Hall, the principal residence."
