"LONG BUCKBY, a parish in the hundred of Guilsborough, in the county of Northampton, 5 miles to the N.E. of Daventry, its post town. It is situated near the head of the river Nen, on the Grand Junction canal, and contains the hamlet of Murcott. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Peterborough, worth £150, in the patronage of the Bishop of Lichfield. The church is dedicated to St. Lawrence. There are in the village a chapel for Baptists, and a free school, endowed in 1783 by L. Freeman, the revenue of which is about £40. The annual value of the other charities is about £32."
