"WARKTON, a parish in -the hundred of Huxloe, county Northampton, 1½ mile N.E. of Kettering, its post town, and 74 miles from London. The soil consists chiefly of clay upon a substratum of limestone. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Peterborough, value £293. The church, dedicated to St. Edmund, contains effigies and monuments of the Montagues of Boughton, several of which are by Roubiliac and Vaugelder. The parochial charities produce about £9 per annum. There is an infant school, supported by the Duchess of Buccleuch. The Duke of Buccleuch is lord of the manor."
