"CROPREDY, a parish in the hundreds of Banbury and Bloxham, in the counties of Oxford and Warwick, 26.5 miles N. of Oxford, and 4.5 N.E. of Banbury. It is situated on the river Cherwell and the Oxford canal. The parish contains the chapelries of Wardington, Mollington, and Claydon, and the townships of Great and Little Bourton and Coton Williamscote. A battle was fought at Cropredy Bridge in 1644, between Charles I. and the Parliamentarians, in which the former was victorious. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford, value £264, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a handsome building in the decorated perpendicular style of architecture, with a tower. The charities amount to £106 per annum. Here is a Dissenting place of worship, and a National school."

"COTON, a hamlet in the parish of Cropredy, in the county of Oxford, 4 miles N.E. of Banbury."

"GREAT BOURTON, (and Little) a township in the parish of Cropredy, hundred of Banbury, in the county of Oxford, 3.5 miles to the N. of Banbury, and 26.5 N. of Oxford. Here is a free school, endowed by Thomas Gill, in 1666, with a revenue of about £25 per annum. The ancient chapel, dedicated to St. Michael, is occupied as the school-house. There is an Independent chapel in Great Bourton, and a Wesleyan chapel in Little Bourton, which is 1 mile nearer to Banbury."

"PRESCOT, a hamlet in the parish of Cropredy, hundred of Banbury, county Oxford, 5 miles N.E. of Banbury."

"WILLIAMSCOTE, (or Willscott), a hamlet in the chapelry of Wardington, parish of Cropredy, county Oxford, 3.5 miles N.E. of Banbury. It is situated near the Oxford canal, and contains some remains of the old mansion in which Charles I. slept the night previous to the battle of Cropredy-bridge."
