"WHEATFIELD, a parish in the hundred of Pirton, county Oxford, 4 miles S.W. of Thame, and 2 S. of Tetsworth. It is separated by a rivulet from Adwell and Tetsworth. Near the border of the parish is Aldwell Cop, the site of an ancient encampment. The soil is loam, resting on a substratum of chalk and clay. The Hall is now in ruins, having been burnt in 1814. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford, value £250. The church contains monuments to the Rudge and Spencer families."
