"COTTESMORE, a parish in the hundred of ALSTOE, county of RUTLAND, 4 miles (N. N. E.) from Oakham, containing, with the chapelry of Barrow, 602 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £25. 16. 3., and in the patronage of Sir Gerard Noel, Bart.
