- Opened in 1776 by John Wesley. In 1809 the Methodist moved to The Temple but retained the Octagon for Sunday School work until it was sold in 1832. It was then used by The Bible Christian Methodists until 1840 when the Chrisian Brethren bought it. The Brethren sold it in 1965 when they moved to their New Octagon Chapel on East Reach. It became a night club. but was subsequently closed down. It became part of a preservation and redevelopment scheme which was completed in 1990. It is now used for office purposes (Source: Mike Berrell).
