"St James Church, at Hill Top, is a brick structure, in the Early English and Perpendicular styles, with two open turrets at the west end, erected in 1842.
The perpetual curacy is in the patronage of the Earl of Dartmouth, and incumbency of the Rev Francis Parker Sockett, BA."

Church History

St James ecclesiastical parish was formed on 14th September 1844. 
The church is in brick, and consists of a chancel, nave, aisles, twin turrets at the west end and a tower erected about 1890.
