St Andrew's parish was formed on 28th March, 1871. The church, at Whitmore Reans, was erected in 1865 in the Early English style.

Church History

St Andrew's church was built of stone, in the Early English style, and consists of a chancel, nave and aisles, but without a tower. It was enlarged in 1870 and the chancel added in 1891-2. 
The mission church of St Aiden, in Harrow Street, which was attached to St Andrew, was built in 1908.
