In submitting these pages to the Public, the editor most gladly acknowledges the assistance he has derived from the late Mr. Clarkson's elaborate and valuable "History of Richmond":- he has not, however, omitted to consult original authorities where they were within his reach. He also begs to state, that the descriptions of Views, &c., at page 40 and part of what relates to Rokeby, are from the pen of one who is much better qualified than himself to analyse and point out the beauties of Landscape Scenery.
W.R. Robinson, Richmond 1833.
