  • Note r - The Entire Parish of Drypool contains 2,935 inhabitants and 1,290 acres. Drypool being situated in the vicinity of Kingston upon Hull will account for the great increase of Population (728 Persons)
  • Note s - The Entire Parish of Garton contains 297 inhabitants and 3,030 acres, including that part of Owstwick Township which is in Rooss Parish, and not being distinguished is entered as if wholly in Garton Parish.

  • Note u - The Entire Parish of Owthorne (which is mostly in South Holderness Wapentake) contains 401 inhabitants and 3,810 acres.

  • Note tt - The Parish of Sutton being contiguous to Kingston upon Hull, building has greatly increased, and with it the Population (725 Persons)

  • Note c - Upwards of 100 Persons have lately emigrated to America from Hornsea, notwithstanding which the Population is the same.
  • Note d - The Entire Parish of Leven contains 771 inhabitants and 5,070 acres.
  • Note e - The Entire Parish of Mappleton contains 473 inhabitants and 5,180 acres, including the whole of Cowdons Township, which is partly in Aldbrough Parish, Middle Division of Holderness Wapentake, and of Great Hatfield, which is partly in Sigglesthorne Parish. Mappleton with Rowlston Township is partly in the Liberty of St Peter of York.
  • Note f - The Return of the Parish of Nunkeeling includes 29 Persons the inmates of a Lunatic Asylum.
  • Note g - The Entire Parish of Sigglesthoren contains 578 inhabitants (besides those in Great Hatfield Township wholly attributed to Mappleton Parish) and 5,380 acres.
  • Note h - The Entire Parish of Skipsea contains 726 inhabitants and 5,820 acres. Ulrome Chapelry extends into Barmston Parish, but is wholly entered here.
  • Note i - The Entire Parish of Swine (which is mostly in the Middle Division of Holderness Wapentake) contains 1,603 inhabitants and 13,530 acres. The Return of Skirlaugh and Rowton Township includes part of Arnold Township; the other part of which is in Riston Parish, and the Population included accordingly.

  • Note b - The Entire Parish of Hemingbrough contains 1,806 inhabitants and 9,440 acres. This Parish has decreased in Population (94 Persons) a few of its inhabitants having emigrated to America.
  • Note c - The Entire Parish of Heslington contains 536 inhabitants, it is partly in the Liberty of St Peter of York. St Paul was heretofore entered as Heslington Township within that Liberty. Heslington St Lawrence is mostly in the City of York.
  • Note d - The Parish of Naburn is intermixed with Acaster Malbis in the Ainsty, and connected with St Dennis (City of York)
  • Note dd - The Parish of Riccall is partly within the jurisdiction of St Peter of York.
  • Note e - The Entire Parish of Skipwith contains 648 inhabitants and 5,590 acres. This Parish has decreased in Population (100 Persons) chiefly attributed to emigration to America.
  • Note f - The Entire Parish of Stillingfleet (which is partly in the Ainsty of the City of York) contains 909 inhabitants and 5,820 acres; the Township of Stillingfleet with Moreby is partly in the Liberty of St Peter of York.

Kingston upon Hull Town & County

  • Note i - Humber Ward, North Ward, and White Fryers, are partly in the Parish of St Mary, partly in that of Holy Trinity but the whole are here included in Holy Trinity Parish, which thus contains 29,687 inhabitants. The Parish of Sculcoates, entered in the Hunsley Beacon Division of Harthill Wapentake may be deemed as a suburb of Hull; thus taken, the Population of Hull amounts to 46,426 inhabitants. This is the more necessary to be here stated, because the Trades and Handicrafts of Sculcoates are, for the sake of comparison with other large towns, included in the Specification of Hull at the end of the County. A part of White Fryers Ward has been converted into a Dock, hence the decrease of Population (400 Persons)
  • Note k - The Entire Parish of Kirk-Ella contains 974 inhabitants and 4,390 acres, including the whole of Anlaby Township which is partly in Hessle Parish. Willerby Township is partly in Cottingham Parish (Hunsley Beacon Division of Harthill Wapentake) and the Population so entered, though not distinguished in the Return.
  • Note l - The Entire Parish of North Ferriby contains 823 inhabitants and 3,760 acres.
  • Note m - In the Parish of Hessle 40 men are employed in the Stone Quarries.
