The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Ballinacarrig contained the following places:"BALLINACARRIG, a parish in the barony of Carlow, partly also in that of Rathvilly, in the county of Carlow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles to the S.E. of Carlow. It is situated in a well-cultivated district on the river Burren. Granite is obtained here for building purposes. The living is a vicarage united with the perpetual curacy of Staplestown, in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin."
