The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Crecrin contained the following places:

"CRECRIN, (or Crycrin), a parish in the baronies of Rathvilly and Shillelagh, in the counties of Carlow and Wicklow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S. W. of Hacketstown. The surface consists partly of moorland. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Leighlin, value with Aghold, £452, in the patronage of the bishop. Tullow is its post town. There are two Roman Catholic chapels and a National school.
