KILLENY, or KILLEANY, a parish, in the barony of CLARE, county of GALWAY, and province of CONNAUGHT, 2 miles (S.) from Headford, on the road to Lough Corrib; containing 1572 inhabitants. The living is a rectory and vicarage, in the diocese of Tuam, forming part of the union of Kilkilvery: the tithes amount to £148. 4. 23/4. In the R. C. divisions the parish is part of the union or district of Headford: the chapel is a small thatched edifice. There are two private schools, in which are about 90 children.
