In 1868, the parish of Miscellaneous contained the following places:

"ARDAGH BARONY, one of the six baronies of the county of Longford, in the province of Leinster, Ireland. It lies in the centre of the county, and is bounded on the N. by the baronies of Longford and Granard, on the E. by the county of West Meath, on the S. by the baronies of Moydow and Shrule, and on the W. by those of Moydow and Longford. It contains the towns of Longford and Edgworthstown, and the parishes of Mostrim and Rathreagh, with parts of Ardagh, Ballymacormick, Clonbrony, Granard, Kilglass, Street, and Temple-michael."

"CHURCH ISLAND, a small island in Lough Sheelin, which lies between the counties of Meath, Westmeath, Cavan, and Longford. There are some ruins on the island."

"CLOONDARAGH, an island, containing a village of the same name, situated between the rivers Shannon and Camlin, in the barony and county of Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland. It is about 2 miles long by 1 broad. Bridges carry the thoroughfare across either river to the mainland. Here is the depot of the W. terminus of the Royal canal."

"DERIG, a minor lough lying between the counties of Westmeath and Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles N.E. of Edgeworthstown."

"FORBES, a lough between the counties Leitrim and Longford, with Roscommon on the W., Ireland. It is formed by the expansion of the river Shannon, and is about 3 miles in length. Its banks are chiefly swamps and bogs."

"GOWNAGH, a lough partly in the barony of Granard, county Longford, and partly in that of Tullyhunco, county Cavan, Ireland, 4 miles N.W. of Granard. It is about 5 miles in length."

"GRANARD, a barony in the county Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland. It is bounded on the S. by the barony of Ardagh, on the W. by the barony of Longford, on the N. by county Cavan, and on the E. by county Westmeath. It contains the parishes of Abbeylara, Columbkille, and parts of Clonbrony, Granard, and Killoe, comprising about 66,681 acres. The surface is flat, but the soil excellent. It has loughs Gownagh and Kennail, and two large bogs on the S. and E. borders. The river Camolin rises in the barony."

"INCHMORE, a small island in Lough Gouna, barony of Granard, county Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland. It contains some church ruins of uncertain origin. Also an island in Lough Roe, county Westmeath, Ireland, 6 miles N. of Athlone."

"INISHBOFIN, (or Innishboffin), an islet in Lough Ree, county Longford, Ireland. Here was a small abbey founded by St. Rioch, but destroyed by the Danes in 1089.

"INISHCLERAUN, (or Inishcloghran), an islet in Lough Ree, county Longford, Ireland.

"KINNAIL, a lough on the borders of counties Cavan, Longford, and Westmeath, Ireland. It is about 2 miles long."

"LONGFORD, a barony in county Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland. It is 14½ miles in length, and its greatest breadth is 10½. Its boundaries are the baronies of Granard, Ardagh, Moydow, and counties Roscommon and Leitrim. It contains part of the parishes of Killashee, Killoe, Mohill, and Templemichael, and the whole of Clongesh."

"MOYDOW, a barony in the county of Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland. It is bounded by the baronies of Longford-Ardagh, Abbeyshrule, Rathcline, and county Roscommon. Its area is 34,519 acres, including the parish of Moydow and parts of Ardagh, Ballymacormick, Kilcommock, Kilglass, Killashee, and Taghsheenod."

"RATHLIN, a barony in the county of Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland. It contains six parishes."

"RICHMOND HARBOUR, a creek in the barony and county of Longford, Ireland. It is situated near the confluence of the river Camlin with the Shannon."

"SHRULE, a barony in the county of Longford, province of Leinster, Ireland, contains the parishes of Abbeyshrule, Agharra, Forgney, and parts of Kilcommock, Kilglass, Noughaval, Taghsheenod, and Taghshinny, comprising about 21,000 acres.
