The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Drumcolumb contained the following places:

"DRUMCOLUMB, a parish in the barony of Tirerill, in the county of Sligo, province of Connaught, Ireland, 5 miles S. of Ballymote. Boyle is its post town. It is situated on the road from that town to Sligo, and near the river Arrow. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Elphin, value with Boyle, £288, in the patronage of the bishop. In the Roman Catholic arrangement the parish is included in the union of Riverstown. Here is a public day school. There are church ruins standing in an ancient burial-place, which are alleged to be the remains of a monastery founded by St. Columb.

"RIVERSTOWN, a village in the parishes of Drumcolumb and Kilmacallan, barony of Tirerill, county Sligo, province of Connaught, Ireland. It stands on the road from Collooney to Ballyfarnon. It contains the parish church, a Methodist meeting-house, a Roman Catholic chapel, a dispensary, and a police station."
