"MONEYDIE, a parish in the district of East Perth, county Perth, Scotland. It includes the old parish of Logiealmond, and extends in length about 2 miles, and the same in breadth. It is bounded by the parishes of Auchtergaven, Redgorton, Methven, and Logiealmond. The surface is undulating but not hilly, the rising grounds running northward and southward from the banks of the Shochie. The soil in general is of a loamy and gravelly nature, with a subsoil of gravel, while towards the river it is a rich loam, with a subsoil of clay. The Luncarty station on the Scottish Midland railway lies due E. of the village, which is situated on the Schochie-burn, at the bridge, about 6 miles N.W. of Perth. It is traversed by a road leading to Logiealmond and Glenshee. In its vicinity are Druid stones, cairns, and traces of a Roman way. This parish is in the presbytery of Perth, and synod of Perth and Stirling. The minister has a stipend of £215. The parish church was erected in 1817. There is a parochial school. The estate of Kinnaird or Kinved belonged to the family of "Bessie Bell" of the song, who is buried at Dronach Haugh."
