The parish of Tremaine, (Cornish: Treven), (or Tremayne) is situated in the Deanery of Trigg Major and in the Hundred of East. It is bounded on the north by the detached part of Warbstow and by Jacobstow, on the east by the parish of North Petherwin and by Tresmere, on the south by Tresmere, and on the west by Treneglos. The origin of the parish name is believed to be 'Farm of a stone' (O.J.Padel). The parish is situated in North Cornwall near the Devonshire border. The nearest villages are: Warbstow, Treneglos and Tresmeer.

- Anglican. The parish church is located in OS Grid Square SX2389 and was dedicated to St Winwallus. The church is an ancient building of freestone and granite in a gothic style; it consists of a chancel and nave. The entrance is by a south porch; there is a blocked north door. The tower has two stages, is 31 feet in height, and is crowned with battlements and pinnacles. It contains three bells.
The registers date from 1726. - Non-Conformist. There was a Wesleyan Methodist chapel near the parish church.

"TREMAINE, a parish in the N. division of East hundred, county Cornwall, 8 miles N.W. of Launceston, its post town, and 12 S.W. of Camelford. The village is situated on the river Attery, about two miles from the old road from Camelford to Launceston. The soil is clay, with a subsoil of slate. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to that of Egloskerry, in the diocese of Exeter. The church is dedicated to St. Winwaloes. There are Church schools and a Sunday-school. The Wesleyans have a chapel."
