Prepared by Michael Steer
Bishop John Grandisson was consecrated on 18 October 1327. He died 16 July 1369. He was buried in the mortuary chapel of St Radegund on the south side of the central doorway of the west front of Exeter Cathedral. His tomb was destroyed during the reign of Elizabeth 1. The paper, delivered at the Association's 1888 Exeter meeting attempts to describe what took place in the Cathedral on the last Christmas of his life, in 1368, the year in which he dated his will and the year after the Nave and the whole Church had been consecrated. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The Internet Archive makes available, in its Community Texts Collection (originally known as Open Source Books), books that have been digitised by Google from a number of libraries. These are books on which copyright has expired, and are available free for educational and research use. This rare book was produced from a copy held by the Princeton University Library, and is available from the Internet Archive.
