[Description(s) from The National Gazetteer (1868)]
"COBERLEY, (or Cubberley), a parish in the hundred of Rapsgate, in the county of Gloucester, 3½ miles S. of Cheltenham, its post town and railway station. It is situated near the source of the river Thames. The village is small and entirely agricultural. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, value £320. The church, dedicated to St. Giles, is an ancient stone structure, and contains effigies of the Berkeley family. The Baptists have a chapel. There is a free school.""SEVEN WELLS, the source of one of the head streams of the river Thames, in the parish of Coberley, county Gloucester, 3 miles S. of Cheltenham."
