The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

"LITTLETON, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Buddlesgate, county Hants, 3 miles N.W. of Winchester, its post town and nearest railway station, on the London and South-Western line. The village is small and wholly agricultural. Here large numbers of race-horses are trained-the stables for which are on an extensive scale. The impropriate tithes, belonging to the Dean and Chapter of Winchester, have been commuted for a rent-charge of £703. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Winchester, value £76, in the patronage of the dean and chapter. The church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene."
