Description in 1877:
"KIRKBY MALLORY parish gives its name to a pleasant village and township on the north side of the vale of a rivulet, 4 1/2 miles N. N. W. of Hinckley and 4 miles S.E. of Market Bosworth, and in that Union and County Court District, and in 1871 contained 222 persons living in 49 houses on 2,190 acres of land. The entire parish which is in Sparkenhoe Hundred, including Earl Shilton township, in Hinckley Union and County Court District, comprises an area of 3,110 acres, and had a population of 2,275 in 1871. The soil is chiefly a light loam and gravel, and the surface diversified. The Earl of Lovelace is lord of the manor and owner of all the soil, except one farm, belonging to Mr. Thomas W. Jee; but his seat of KIRKBY MALLORY HALL is occupied by Lord de Clifford."

- Just outside the churchyard is a monument to Ada Augusta LOVELACE, known to computer geeks as the first programmer. She died on 29 November, 1852.

Kirkby Mallory is a village, a township and a parish which lie about 114 miles north of London, 5 miles north of Hinckley and 4 miles east of Market Bosworth. The parish covers about 1,008 acres.

The parish has a wall-mounted incised slate inscription tablet with a molded alabaster frame standing in a driveway off Church Road. It has the names of the four individuals who died in World War I.
- The parish is in the ancient Sparkenhoe Hundred in the western division of the county.
- On 1 April 1935, 141 acres of this Civil Parish were ceeded to Newbold Verdon Civil Parish.
- On that same date, 1,900 acres (the remainder of the parish) of this Civil Parish were amalgamated with Peckelton Civil Parish. As a result, the old Civil Parish of Kirkby Mallory disappeared.
- Bastardy cases would be heard in the Sparkenhoe (Market Bosworth) petty session hearings each week, alternating between Hinckley and Market Bosworth.
- There was a fund for apprenticing poor children of the parish, arising from bequests left by the NOEL and DILKE families.
- As a result of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act, this parish became part of the Market Bosworth Poorlaw Union.
These census figures, except for 1801 thru 1851, appear to be for the Township and not the entire parish of Kirkby Mallory.
