"NORTH BRADFORD HUNDRED, one of the 12 hundreds or subdivisions of the county of Salop, situated in the north parliamentary division of the county, and bounded on the N. by Cheshire and part of Flintshire; on the E. by Staffordshire; on the S. by the hundred of South Bradford; and on the W. by the Albrighton division of the hundred of Pimhill. This hundred is separated into three divisions-Drayton, Wem, and Whitchurch. The Drayton division contains the parishes of Adderley, Cheswardine, Drayton-in-Hales, Child's Ercall, Hinstock, Moreton-Sea, Norton-in-Hales, Stoke-upon-Tern, with parts of Hodnet and Muckleston. This division comprises an area of about 56,000 acres. The Wem division contains the parishes of Moreton-Corbet, Shawbury, and Wem, with part of Hodnet, and has an area of about 22,090 acres. The Whitchurch division contains the parishes of Ightfield, Lee Brockhurst, Prees, Stanton-upon-Nine Heath, and part of Whitchurch, and extends over an area of about 36,340 acres.

" BRIMSTREE HUNDRED, one of the 14 hundreds or subdivisions of Shropshire, situated in the S. parliamentary division of the county, and bounded on the N. and E. by Staffordshire, on the S. by the hundred of Stottesdon, and on the W. by the hundred of North Bradford and the borough of Wenlock. It consists of the three divisions of Bridgnorth, Halesowen, and Shiffnal: the first containing the parishes of Claverley, Worfield, and part of Bobbington; the second containing part of the parish of Halesowen; and the third the parishes of Albrighton, Badger, Beckbury, Boningale, Donington, Kemberton, Ryton, Shiffnal, Stockton, Sutton Maddock, and Tong, with the extra-parochial district of Boscobel. The hundred comprises an area of about 63,300 acres."

" CHELMARSH, a division of the hundred of Stottesdon, in the county of Salop. It contains the parishes of Deuxhill, Chelmarsh, Glazeley, Abbot's Astley, Morvill, Tasley, Highley, Sidbury, North Cleobury, Billingsley, Oldbury, Upton Cressett, Neenton, Middleton Seriven, Acton Round, Sheinton, Aveley, and parts of Quaff Malvern, Chetton, Pattingham, and Quatford."

" CHIRBURY, a hundred in the county of Salop, in two divisions The upper contains the parish of Chirbury, with a portion of Church Stoke; the lower, the parish of Shelve, with parts of Worthen and Hyssington, comprising together 26,890 acres."

" CLEOBURY, a division of the hundred of Stottesdon, in the south-eastern portion of the county of Salop; containing the parishes of Burwarton, Cleobury Mortimer, Cainham, Hope Baggot, Kinlet, Neen Savage, Aston-Botterell, Coreley, Dowles, Hopton Wafers, Wheathill, and parts of Stottesdon and Chetton."

" CLUN, a hundred in the south-west part of the county of Salop. It includes the parishes of Clan and Mainstone, and comprises about 25,190 acres."

" CONDOVER, a hundred in the middle division of the county of Salop. It is divided into the Condover and Cound divisions; the former containing the parishes of Condover, Church Pulverbatch, Frodesley, Leebotwood Longnor, Smethcott, Stapleton, Sutton Woolstaston, and parts of St. Chad, St. Julian, and Meole-Brace; the latter division containing the parishes of Acton-Burnell, Berrington, Cound, Harley, Kenley Pitchford, and Church-Preen. The two divisions comprise about 42,840 acres, part of which is hilly."

" CORNBROOK, a rich coal field in the Clee hills, in the county of Salop. The Manchester, Warrington, and Garston branch of the North-Western railway has a station here."

" DRAYTON DIVISION, in the hundred of North Bradford, in the county of Salop, contains the parishes of Adderley, Cheswardine, Childs Ercall, Hinstock, Moreton Sea, Norton-in-Hales, Stoke-upon-Tern, and parts of Drayton-in-Hales, Hodnet, and Muckleston, comprising 55,980 acres."

" ELLERTON HALL, a small place in the county Salop, 5 miles N.W. of Newport. The river Mees passes through it."

" ELLESMERE, a division of the hundred of Pimhill, county Salop, contains the parishes of Welsh Hampton, Hordley, Loppingdon, and parts of Ellesmere and Middle, comprising together above 40,000 acres."

" FORD HUNDRED, one of the 14 hundreds into which Shropshire is divided. It is situated in the western part of the county, and is bounded on the N. by the hundred of Oswestry, on the E. by the hundred of Condover, on the S. by the hundred of Chirbury, and on the W. by the county of Montgomery. There are two divisions, Ford and Pontesbury. Ford division contains the parishes of Cardiston, Ford, Great Hanwood, Westbury, and parts of Alberbury, Shrewsbury St. Alkmund, St. Chad, and St. Julian, comprising an area of nearly 40,000 acres."

" LEDWYCHE, a river rising under Titterstoneclee, in county Salop, and joining the Teme near Tenbury. On its bank is a hamlet of the same name, about 1 mile E. of Ludlow."

" LONGMONT, (or Long Mynd), a range of hills in county Salop, running in a south-westerly direction, and at one point attaining an altitude of 1,675 feet. " LOWER MUNSLOW, a hundred in county Salop, contains the borough of Ludlow and the parishes of Abdon, Ashford-Bowdler, Ashford-Carbonell, Bromfield, Clee St. Margaret, Culmington, Diddlebury, Easthope, Holdgate, Hopton-in-the-Hole, Munslow, Onibury, Lacy-Stanton, Long-Stanton, Stoke St. Milborough, Stokesay, Tugford, Cold-Weston, and parts of Ludford and Richard's-Castle, comprising an area of 69,670 acres.

" MAINSTONE, a division of the hundred of Clun, county Salop. It contains the parishes of Bettus, Llanvair, Waterdine, and part of Mainstone, comprising 22,590 acres."

" NEWBURY, a coal-field on Titterstone Clee Hill, county Salop, 5 miles E. by N. of Ludlow. It is basin shaped, and is about half a mile in length, consisting of several thin strata of coal, ironstone, and clay, resting on limestone, which are worked at Cornbrook and other places."

" NEWPORT DIVISION, a division in the hundred of South Bradford, county Salop, contains the parishes of Bolas-Magna, Chetwynd, Egmond, Kinnersley, Lilleshall, Longford, Newport, Preston-on-the-Wild-Moors, and part of Sheriff Hales, comprising an area of 28,830 acres."

" ONNY, a small river of county Salop, rises in Shelve Poole, under Stiperstones, and joins the Teme at Oakley Park."

" OSWESTRY, a hundred in two divisions, Lower and Upper, in the county of Salop. It formed part of Wales previous to 1535. The Lower hundred contains the parishes of West Felton, Kinnerley, Knockin, Melverley, and Ruyton of the Eleven Towns, comprising an area of 20,230 acres. The Upper hundred contains the parishes of Halston, Llanyblodwell, St. Martin, Selattyn, Whittington, and parts of Llansillin, Llanymynech, and Oswestry, comprising an area of 42,350 acres. It gives name to a deanery in the archdeaconry and diocese of St. Asaph."

" OVERS, a hundred in the county of Salop, contains the parishes of Bitterley, Burford, Greet, Milson, Neen-Sollars, and Silvington, comprising an area of 19,110 acres."

" QUENNY, a stream of the county of Salop, rises in the Longmont hills, near Church-Stretton, and joins the Ony at Halford Chapel. Chapel."

" REA, two streams of this name, one rises near Stanton Long, in county Salop, and joins the Teme at Rochford; the other rises under the Clent hills in county Worcester, and passing under the Grand Junction viaduct which is here carried across the valley on 28 arches, joins the Teme near Castle Bromwich."

" RODDEN, a river of the county of Salop, rises in Whixall Moss, and joins the Tern near Wrockwardine."

" SHIFFNAL, a division in the hundred of Brimstree, county Salop, contains the parishes of Albrighton, Badger, Beckbury, Boningale, Boscobel, Donington, Kemberton, Ryton, Shiffnal, Stockton, Sutton-Maddock, and Tong, comprising 34,270 acres."

" SOUTH BRADFORD HUNDRED, one of the 12 hundreds or subdivisions of the county of Salop, situated in the north parliamentary division of the county, and bounded on the N. by the hundred of North Bradford; on the E. by Staffordshire and the hundred of Brimstree; on the S. by the hundred of Condover and the borough of Wenlock; and on the W. by the Albrighton division of the county It is in two parts, the Wellington and Newport divisions In the Wellington division are the parishes of Atcham, Buildwas, Dawley Magna, Eaton Constantine, Ercall Magna, Eyton-upon-the-Wild-Moors, Leighton, Longdon-upon-Tern, Roddington, Stirchley, Uppington, Upton Magna, Upton Parva, Wellington, Withington, Wombridge, Wrockwardine, and Wroxeter. This division covers an area of about 54,460 acres. The Newport division contains the parishes of Bolas Magna, Chetwynd, Edgmond, Kinnersley, Lilleshall, Longford, Newport, Preston-upon-the-Wild-Moors, and part of Sheriff Hales, and comprises about 28,800 acres.

" STIPERSTONES, a ridge of trap rocks in the county of Salop, 6 miles from Church Stretton, 1,800 feet high, and containing lead and zinc."

" UPPER MUNSLOW, a hundred in county Salop, contains the parishes of Acton-Scott, Cardington, Eaton, Hope-Bowdler, Rushbury, Shipton, and Stretton-Church, comprising an area of 34,080 acres.

" WELLINGTON, a division of the hundred of South Bradford, county Salop, contains the parishes of Atcham, Buildwas, Dawley Magna, Eaton Constantine, High Ercall, Eaton-upon-the-Wild-Moors, Leighton, Longdon-on-Terne, Roddington, Stirchley, Uppington, Upton Magna and Parva, Wellington, Withington, Wombridge, Wrockwardine, and Wroxeter, together comprising 54,460 acres."

" WEM, a division of the hundred of North Bradford , county Salop, contains the parishes of Moreton Corbet and Shawbury, and parts of Hodnet and Wem, comprising 22,090 acres."

" WENLOCK BOROUGH, a liberty in county Salop, contains the parishes of Barrow, Benthall, Broseley, Prior's Ditton, Monk Hopton, Hughley, Linley, Madeley, Posenhall, Little Wenlock, Much Wenlock, and Willey, comprising 30,540 acres. The other liberties, comprising Badger, Beckbery, Deuxhill, Eaton, and Stoke St. Milborough, are now parts of Brimstree, Munslow, and Stottesdon hundreds, but are included in the parliamentary borough of Wenlock."

" WHITCHURCH, a division of the hundred of North Bradford, county Salop, contains the parishes of Ightfield, Lee-Brockhurst, Prees, Stanton-upon-Hine-Heath, and part of Whitchurch, comprising 36,340 acres."
