"PRESTON-GUBBALS, (or Gobalds), a parish in the Albrighton division of county Salop, 4½ miles N. of Shrewsbury, its post town. It comprises the hamlets of Merrington and Bomere Heath. The village is small and chiefly agricultural. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £167. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Lichfield, value £167. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, or St. Martin, is an ancient structure, with a small turret containing one bell.
