"UPTON CRESSETT, a parish in the Chelmarsh division of Stottesdon hundred, county Salop, 4½ miles S.W. of Bridgnorth, its post town. It is situated on the Ditton Priors and Bridgnorth turnpike road. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford, value £125. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, contains a brass to the Cressett family, date 1640. The Hall, which was surrounded by a moat, was erected in 1580, and was the seat of the Cressetts. The Rev. H. T.
