"BACTON, a parish in the hundred of Hartismere, in the county of Suffolk, 5 miles to the N. of Stowmarket, its post town. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Norwich, value £700, in the patronage of the Rev. A. B. Hemsworth. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The annual value of the parochial charities is £86. Bacton Hall is near the village."
