"WHATFIELD, a parish in the hundred of Gosford, county Suffolk, 3 miles N. of Hadleigh railway station, and 9 N.E. of Sudbury. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich, value £484, in the patronage of Jesus College, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret. The Independents have a chapel. Charles Tyrrell, Esq., is lord of the manor."
