"STAWELL, a hamlet and chapelry in the parish of Moorlinch, hundred of Whitley, county Somerset, 4½ miles N.E. of Bridgwater, its post town, and 2 N.W. of Moorlinch. The village is wholly agricultural. The living is a curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Moorlinch, in the diocese of Bath and Wells. The Independents have a chapel."
