"THORNE-FALCON, a parish in the hundred of North Curry, county Somerset, 3.5 miles E. of Taunton, its post town, and 9 N.W. of Ilminster. The village is situated near the Great Western railway and the Chard canal. The soil consists of clay. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £296. The church, dedicated to the Holy Cross, is an ancient edifice with a tower and three bells. There is a school for both sexes, supported by voluntary contributions."
