"ENDON, a chapelry in the parish of Leek, N. division of the hundred of Totmonslow, county Stafford, 4 miles S.W. of Leek, its post town. It is situated on the Caldon canal, and embraces within Its limits the townships of Endon, Longsdon, and Stanley. The road from Leek to Newcastle-under-Lyne passes through the village.

The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Lichfield, value £110. The church is a plain structure, with a handsome tower crowned with turrets and pinnacles. It is dedicated to St. Luke, and contains tablets to the Goddrells, Heatons, and others. The parochial charities produce about £10 per annum for the poor. There is a free school with a small endowment. Gibbs Crawford Antrobus, Esq., is lord of the manor."

"LONGSDON, a township in the parish of Leek, N. division of the hundred of Totmonslow, county Stafford, 2 miles S.W. of Leek."

"STANLEY, a township in the parish of Leek, N. division of Totmonslow hundred, county Stafford, 4½ miles S.W. of Leek. It is situated near the Caldon canal. The manor anciently belonged to the Aldithleys, or Audleys, from whom it passed to Adam de Stanlegh, ancestor of the Stanleys."
