LONGTON (ST JAMES). The church at Longton, dedicated to St. James, in the later English style, with a tower, was erected in 1834, at an expense of £9633.16; it will accommodate more than 1900 persons, and has been endowed and converted into a district rectory, prior to which it was a chapel of ease to the mother church
