"DODDENHAM, a parish in the lower division of the hundred of Doddingtree, in the county of Worcester, 3 miles S. of Martley, and 7 W. of Worcester. It is situated on the river Teme, and contains the hamlets of Easinghope, Gurneck, Devil's Leap, Hypsmoor, Holling and Newton, Hayne's Green, and Want's Green. The living is a curacy in the diocese of Worcester, annexed to the rectory* [the asterisk denotes that there is a parsonage and glebe belonging to the living] of Knightwick, in the gift of the Dean and Chapter of Worcester, who are lords of the manor. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, was erected in the middle of the last century."
