The Ancient Parish of NUN MONKTON
[Transcribed information mainly from the early 1820s]
"NUN MONKTON, a parish in the West Riding of Yorkshire, but containing some places located within the Ainsty of York.""SKIPBRIDGE, in the parishes of Moor Monkton and Nun Monkton, 8 miles WNW. of York. A small hamlet on the banks of the river Nidd, over which there is a good stone bridge, of three arches, erected about thirty four years ago."
