St. Luke's Church, Hull

St. Luke's Church, Hull
49. ST. LUKE STREET. St. Luke's Anglican church. The church was built as a chapel-of-ease to Holy Trinity and consecrated in 1862, gaining its own district in 1864. The church replaced a temporary church, first in a disused chapel in Nile Street and then in Porter Street. The architect was Robert Blessley of London. Red brick with black bands and stone dressings in Early Decorated style. A tower by R.G. Smith and F.S. Brodrick was added in 1878. The church was badly damaged in the Second World War and demolished. The site is now occupied by council housing. [The Lost Churches and Chapels of Hull]
