"YORK SAINT DENNIS, a parish in the city of York, in Walmgate, (united with St. George which church is no longer standing, and Naburn) a rectory, value +4L. 0s. 10d. Patron, the University of Cambridge, held with St. George, Naburn, value p.r. 80L. Population 1,093.Bell Hall, Gilridding and Lincroft were (houses) within the township of Naburn, which is in the East Riding wapentake of Ouse and Derwent."
"BELL HALL, (the seat of Hewby John Baines, Esq.) in the township of Naburn, and parish of York Saint Dennis, wapentake of Ouse and Derwent; 4¾ miles S. of York Saint Dennis."
"GILRIDDING, a farm house (now Gillrudding Grange) in the parish of York Saint Dennis, and wapentake of Ouse and Derwent; 4¼ miles S. of York Saint Dennis."
"LINGCROFT, (the seat of J.B. Walmsley, Esq.) in the township of Naburn, and parish of York Saint Dennis, and wapentake of Ouse and Derwent; 2¾ miles SSE. of York Saint Dennis, 3 miles S. of York."
"NABURN, in the parishes of Acaster Malbis and York Saint Dennis, (both in the Ainsty), wapentake of Ouse and Derwent; (the seat of George Palmes, Esq.)4 miles S. of York. Here is a Chapel of Ease of the Established church, and likewise a Methodist chapel. The town is situate near to the bank of the river Ouse. There is here also an endowed school of £10. per annum, for ten boys; £5. of which was left by Lady Hewley, and £5. by Mr. Edward Loftus. Population, 366."
