In 1868, the parish of Killylea contained the following places:

"KILLYLEA, a quoad sacra parish and post-office village in the baronies of Turaney and Armagh, county Armagh, province of Ulster, Ireland, 5 miles W. of Armagh. The parish is 3 miles long by 2 broad. The surface is hilly. The Blackwater drains it on the W., and the Ulster canal intersects the interior. The living is a district curacy in the diocese of Armagh, value £107, in the patronage of the rectors of Tynan, Armagh, and Derrynoose. The church was built by the late Board of First Fruits in 1832. Here are four day schools. Several residences grace the locality, among which is Knappagh. The village is a neatly built little place, standing on a sharp incline on the road from Caledon to Armagh. Fairs are held here on the last Friday of every month."
