The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilcredan contained the following places:

"KILCREDAN, a parish in the barony of Imokilly, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles S.E. of Castle Martyr, its post town. It is 2 miles long by 1 mile broad, and lies towards the N. of Ballycottin Bay. The soil is mostly good. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Cloyne, value with two others, £364, in the patronage of the crown. The church is over 200 years old. The Roman Catholic chapel is at Kilmacdonough. Here are two day schools. Ballycrenan Castle, standing near the coast, was the seat of the Carews."
