The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilcrohane contained the following places:

"KILCROHANE, a parish in the barony of West Carbery, county Cork, 6 miles S.W. of Bantry, and 7 N. of Skull. The parish, which is often considered a part of Durrus, is situated on the coast near Sheep's Head, between Bantry and Dunmanus bays. The surface is generally hilly and bare. The living is a vicarage united to the rectory of Durrus. The principal residence is Donovan's Cove, near the ruins of the old castle of the O'Donovans."
