The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Templeomalus contained the following places:

"TEMPLEOMALUS, a parish in the barony of Ibane, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles E.S.E. of Clonakilty, its post town. The surface consists of good soil, enriched by sea-weed manure. The parish is crossed by the road from Clonakilty to Donoughmore, and includes Clonakilty bay and the villages of Arundelmills or Ring. Some of the inhabitants are engaged in fishing. The living is a rectory and vicarage in the diocese of Ross, value £158, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, which stands on an, eminence, has long been in ruins. There are a Roman Catholic chapel, also public and private schools. The chief residence is Lackenduff. There are some slate quarries. The ruins of Arundel Castle, built by the lord of that name in the 13th century, are to be traced, also Druidical remains."
