It lies along Carlingford Bay and the Newry river. The surface is hilly, with some tolerably good arable land. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Dromore, held in conjunction with the chancellorship of Dromore Cathedral, value £607, in the patronage of Trinity College, Dublin.
