The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kill contained the following places:

"KILL, (or Kill Of The Grange), a parish and post-office station in the barony of Rathdown, county Dublin, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles S.W. of Kingstown. The parish is 2½ miles long by 1½ mile broad. It contains the villages of Galloping Green and Killiney. The surface lies on the S. side of Dublin Bay, and the soil is in a high state of cultivation. The parish is traversed by the road from Dublin to Bray. The living is a curacy in the diocese of Dublin, value with Monkstown, £474, in the patronage of the archbishop. The parish formerly belonged to Christ's Church, Dublin. Kill Abbey and Newton Park may be mentioned amongst the numerous residences. There are remains of a very ancient church.
