The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killesher contained the following places:

"KILLESHER AND ISLANDS, a parish in the barony of Clanawley, county Fermanagh, province of Ulster, Ireland, 6 miles S.W. of Enniskillen. Florencecourt is its post town. The parish is 8 miles long by 4 broad. It includes part of Lower Lough Macnean, with its islands. The surface is mountainous and boggy, having part of the Dowbally mountains within its limits, and Slieve-Cuilcagh in the S., which last attains an altitude of 2,188 feet. The interior is traversed by the road from Killeshandra to Enniskillen. The living is a rectory and vicarage in the diocese of Kilmore, value £1,167, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was built more than half a century ago, at the expense of the parishioners, and has since been enlarged. There are two united Roman Catholic chapels, five Sunday and eight day schools. Florencecourt is the seat of Earl Enniskillen."
