In 1868, the parish of Boyounagh contained the following places:

"BOYOUNAGH, a parish in the baronies of Ballymoe and Tyaquin, in the county of Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland, 10 miles to the N.E. of Tuam. The district is boggy. Glennamaddy is a village in this parish The living is a vicarage united with the rectory of Kilkerrin, in the diocese of Tuam, Killala, and Achonry.

"GLENAMADDA, a village in the parish of Boyounagh, barony of Ballymoe, county Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland. It is situated 7 miles from Dunmore, and is on the miserable road from Dunmore to Athleague, encompassed with bogs."
