In 1868, the parish of Inishmaan contained the following places:

"INISHMAAN, (or Ennismain), an island parish in the barony of Aran, county Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland. Clifden is its post town. It lies in the entrance to Galway Bay, and is one of the three principal Aran Isles. It is 2 miles long by 1 mile broad. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Tuam, value as part of the benefice of Ballinakill, £99, in the patronage of the bishop. See Arran Isles for more information.
