In 1868, the parish of Killallaghtan contained the following places:

"KILLALLAGHTAN, (or Killaghton), a parish in the baronies of Clonmacnowen and Kilconnell, county Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland, 4 miles S. of Kilconnell. The parish is 7 miles long by 3 broad. The land is chiefly used for grazing purposes. The road from Ballinasloe to Galway crosses it in the E. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Clonfert, value with Aughrim, £352, in the patronage of the Marquis of Clanricarde and bishop alternately. There is a Roman Catholic chapel united to that of Kilrickhill. There are two day schools. Killagh, Sprucehill, and Cartron, are the principal residences.

"ARDRESS, a village in the parish of Killallaghtan, barony of Kilconnel, in the county of Galway, province of Connaught, Ireland, 6 miles to the S.W. of Ballinasloe."
